Cleaning Chandeliers is a tough job and an art in
itself. Here are a few tips on how to clean
and maintain chandeliers.
- Take out all the bulbs and put them aside.
- Spread a folded towel over the bottom of a sink or dishpan.
Half fill this with lukewarm water. Add soap or detergent
and swish up suds.
- Fill another large pan with clean hot water for rinsing.
Once again spread a towel at the bottom to keep fine glass
from breaking. Add a little ammonia to this water for extra
sparkle.
- Take the crystal drops and saucers off of the chandelier
one at a time. Wipe the frame of the chandelier with a cloth
dipped in warm soap suds.
- Wash the different parts in the warm soap water. Rinse
them with hot water and wipe them dry. Then put them back
right away to make sure that they go in the right places.
If any pins or wires look weak or rusty, put in new ones.
- Keep on taking down, washing, and re-hanging more parts
until the whole piece is clean.
- Sponge off the bulbs. Rinse them, wipe them dry and put
them into their sockets again.
And now you have a sparkling new chandelier!
