Trump Dismisses Ivanka Comments, Criticizes Barr Over Jan. 6

Donald Trump dismissed comments made by his daughter in a video clip released at Thursday’s Jan. 6 committee hearing during which

she said that she accepted then-Attorney General William Barr’s conclusion that the election was not stolen. Trump instead said she had “checked out.”

“Ivanka Trump was not involved in looking at, or studying, Election results,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Friday

“She had long since checked out and was, in my opinion, only trying to be respectful to Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!)”

In the video clips, Ivanka Trump said that hearing from Barr that there was no widespread election fraud “affected” her perspective.

“I respect Attorney General Barr so I accepted what he was saying,” she said.

former president also lashed out at Barr on his social media platform Friday morning, saying he was a “weak and frightened Attorney General”

who was being “played” by the Democrats, framing his unwillingness to refute what Trump called a “rigged and stolen” election as an effort to avoid impeachment.

The comments come as the Jan. 6 Committee likewise released video testimony from Barr, who described telling the former president that claims of election fraud were "bull—."
